The National Political Council of the PDM decided to convene the extraordinary party congress on July 27th
Today, the National Political Council of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) has decided to convene the extraordinary congress of the party on July 27th. As of today, the entire leadership of the PDM, such as the Vice-Presidents and the General Secretary, have resigned. Until the new leadership will be elected at the congress, the interim President of PDM will be assured by Pavel Filip, current Chairman of the PDM parliamentary faction.
The National Political Council of the PDM considered the political situation in the country, as well as the current position within the political formation. In the following time, the conferences shall be organised within the party's territorial organizations. PDM members must nominate candidates for leadership positions, but also new approaches for PDM's work program.
"We have all come to the conclusion that the party remains a strong and necessary political force for the Republic of Moldova. PDM has always been a force that has balanced things in the country. We have time until July 27th to make a deep analysis of everything that has happened in the party, to understand what we need to change, and after the congress, to have a strong political formation based on European values and oriented to the needs of the people", Pavel Filip said after the meeting.
Moreover, the National Political Council of the PDM appeals to the new parliamentary majority not to destroy the social and economic projects, initiated and needed by citizens. "Actions based only on the desire for revenge is not what people need. PDM will assume the role of a party that will balance things in the country and will continue to work for ensuring citizens' welfare, guaranteeing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country", Pavel Filip stated.
