The Chairman of the PDM parliamentary faction, Pavel Filip, to Johannes Hahn: „We will be a constructive opposition, supporting projects that bring benefits to people”
The Chairman of the parliamentary faction of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Pavel Filip, met today with Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.
The two speakers exchanged views on the social-political situation in the country, underlining the importance of maintaining stability and a constructive dialogue between the Government and the opposition.
Pavel Filip stated that PDM has shown it is a political party devoted to the stability of the country and to European integration: it decided to withdraw from the governance, although the party's invitation to dialogue was denied by the rest of the parliamentary parties.
“We will continue to be a constructive opposition in Parliament, supporting projects related to the Association Agreement and to European integration, that bring concrete benefits to people,” the Chairman of PDM faction said.
At the same time, Pavel Filip mentioned that PDM will put all the necessary efforts to strengthen its position as an European social democratic party.
Commissioner Johannes Hahn welcomed the overcoming of the political gridlock by peaceful means and emphasized the important role of the opposition in a democratic state, which must be an active, but constructive opposition. The European official appreciated the cooperation so far and expressed confidence that good relations will continue to be developed.
