Vlad Plahotniuc in the United States: The energy interconnection with the West is essential for Moldova
The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc, is on a trip in the United States of America during this period, where he has scheduled several meetings with political leaders, members of civil society and representatives of American academia.
The first moment of the visit of the DPM Chairman was the meeting with Texas Congressman Pete Olson, who is also the Chairman of the U.S.A.-Moldova Parliamentary Group. The event took place on Monday in Houston, Texas.
"It was a great pleasure to see Mr. Congressman and it is a pride for me to consider him as a friend. We discussed various topics in the social and economic area, achieved reforms, but also a very important subject for Moldova - the energy security. We also discussed about the forthcoming parliamentary elections and the Moldovan-American relations in general", said Vlad Plahotniuc.
DPM leader said within the meeting that during this period, Moldova is working to ensure the country's energy alternative, informing the American Congressman (who's also a member in the Energy and Commerce Committee of the House of Representatives) on the Ungheni-Chişinău pipeline construction. "Mr. Olson is well-versed in energy related themes and he was interested in Moldova's efforts to diversify energy supply sources. Our country definitely needs energy alternative and the efforts go on very seriously in this direction ", said Vlad Plahotniuc.
The U.S. Representatives Congressman, Pete Olson, has sent a message on behalf of the 800000 people from Texas that he represents. "We love Moldova. It is a wonderful country and an ally for us. I urge to work together and to become closer, as we have become in the last year. We have a very good relation; let us strengthen it and make it stronger, "said Pete Olson.
Along with the DPM Chairman, Vlad Plahotniuc, the party's Vice-Chairmen Adrian Candu and Vlad Cebotari were present at the meeting with the American Congressman.
