Chairman of the Democratic Party, Vlad Plahotniuc, to the Estonian Prime minister: We Count on Estonian Support to Consolidate Moldova's European Project
On Monday, in Chisinau, Vlad Plahotniuc, the Chairman of PDM, had a meeting with Jüri Ratas, Prime minister of Estonia, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Moldova.
The leader of democrats thanked for the support that Estonia provided to our country in recent years and spoke about the progress that Moldova achieved in this time, including the results in raising the level of people's life. Vlad Plahotniuc said that "the support of the European Union and our determination yield result for the Republic of Moldova, for functioning of economy and for citizens". He also stated that the European path of Moldova is clear and Estonia is an example for our country to follow "both in terms of internal accomplishments and in terms of perspectives of integration into the Western world".
With regard to Moldovan diaspora, the chairman of PDM stated that the government is focused on creating conditions to bring those who left abroad back home and make them "our partners in the process of development". "We want them to come back with knowledge and Western experience to use them in Moldova", the chairman of the Democratic Party said.
Vlad Plahotniuc told prime-minister Jüri Ratas that Moldova counts on the support of Estonian partners on its way to the European Union and underscored the pro-Western commitment of the current government: „Our strategy is simple: set up a new pro-European coalition in 2018, develop the country, consolidate partnerships with the West”.
Prime minister of Estonia, Jüri Ratas, stated that he was glad to be in the Republic of Moldova, as well as meet the chairman of the Democratic Party, having underscored the fact that he appreciates the reforms implemented by current government. Jüri Ratas also spoke about the Estonian experience in education, IT and health, and invited our country to draw inspiration from this experience. The Estonian Prime-minister also reminded that during the time when Estonia held chairmanship in the European Council it expressed very clearly support to territorial integrity of Moldova and pleaded for stronger European support of Eastern Partnership countries, ours being one of them.
Deputy Chairs of the party, Vlad Cebotari and Sergiu Sirbu, as well as Lara Moraru, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Democratic Party, accompanied the Chairman of PDM, Vlad Plahotniuc, at the meeting with the Estonian Prime minister.
Prime minister of Estonia, Jüri Ratas, is visiting our country on June 17-19 current year. He had meetings with Prime-minister Pavel Filip, as well as other representatives of the state.
